Captura + Studio Source Yearbooks:
A simpler, more predictable way to run yearbooks

A yearbook season shouldn’t feel like a gamble

Yearbooks are one of the most meaningful products a studio can deliver, and one of the hardest to run well at scale.

The challenge isn’t just designing the book. It’s managing the hundreds of high‑stakes details around it: deadlines, approvals, school coordination, production steps, change requests, and the constant question of “Are we on track?”and, if not, “Where exactly are we stuck?”

That’s why we’re excited to share the news: Captura has acquired Studio Source Yearbooks.

Studio Source has built a reputation for helping studios deliver reliable yearbook outcomes through a studio‑first support model, operational guidance, and tools that bring structure to the chaos. And at Captura, we’ve been building the ecosystem for high volume studios, workflow, ecommerce, yearbooks and more - so studios can operate with confidence.

This acquisition is about strengthening what already works, keeping trusted processes and relationships intact, while giving them a stronger foundation for the future.

Together, we’re bringing yearbook operations under one roof, so studios can run a more predictable season without adding more admin.

Why this matters (and why now)

Yearbooks are rooted in tradition. Our intent here is about protecting that tradition, while also making them accessible, reliable, and less dependent on last minute saves.

Studios have been telling us a consistent story:

  • Yearbooks can be a growth driver, but operational complexity often holds them back

  • Visibility is the biggest gap: too many moving parts across too many tools

  • Pressure lands on a few key people inside the studio, creating bottlenecks

  • Schools want a smoother experience, but studios end up managing process instead of building relationships

The result is familiar: talented teams working incredibly hard, with too much of the season held together by memory, inboxes, spreadsheets, and heroics.

This acquisition is about reducing that burden.

Studio Source and Captura were built with the same belief: yearbooks succeed when studios have structure, visibility and real support, not more tools to juggle. By combining Captura’s technology with Studio Source’s operational experience, studios get a more connected way to manage every yearbook, from setup through delivery - streamlined.

What studios can expect: fewer tools, clearer status, hands‑on support

This is the practical shift we’re building toward:

A single command center for yearbooks

A clear operational view across projects, schools, tasks, deadlines, and risk points, so nothing gets lost and everyone knows what “on track” actually looks like.

Less manual coordination

Fewer handoffs. Fewer duplicate updates. Fewer places where the truth can diverge and things can go wrong.

A smoother experience for schools

When studios have clearer structure behind the scenes, schools feel it too: fewer follow‑ups, clearer next steps, and more repeatable timelines.

Support designed for real studio workflows

Studio Source is known for guidance that fits how studios actually work. That studio‑first approach remains central, now backed by Captura’s broader ecosystem and ongoing technology investment.

What stays the same (especially for Studio Source customers)

If you’re a Studio Source customer, the most important message is simple:

The trusted service and support you rely on remains, now with a stronger foundation behind it.

Studio Source has always focused on helping studios deliver consistently and confidently. Becoming part of Captura strengthens that mission and makes it possible to connect operational guidance more directly with the systems studios use every day.

What this unlocks for Captura Yearbooks customers

For Captura Yearbooks customers, Studio Source brings an established operational model, especially in the areas that typically create the most friction:

  • Production visibility

  • Coordination and accountability

  • Predictable execution

  • Clearer tracking across the full lifecycle

The goal is simple: Streamline yearbooks. Amplify growth. That means we want to make your yearbooks business easier to grow, without the overhead that usually comes with it.

What we believe yearbooks should feel like

Yearbooks represent tradition, community, and pride. They shouldn’t feel like stress.

Studios deserve a yearbook process that feels:

  • Organized, clear stages, clear owners, clear next steps

  • Predictable, fewer surprises, fewer last‑minute scrambles

  • Scalable, growth without admin bloat

  • Supported, real help when it matters

This acquisition is a meaningful step toward that reality.

What comes next?

We’re not changing anything in how you currently work. We want to reduce friction, improve reliability, and keep building based on real studio and school feedback.

    PRESS RELEASE
    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Captura acquires Studio Source Yearbooks, bringing end-to-end yearbook operations into the Captura ecosystem

December 9, 2025 — Raleigh, NC — Captura, the connected ecosystem built for high volume photography studios, today announced its acquisition of Studio Source Yearbooks (SSY), a trusted leader in studio-support, yearbook production, and operational guidance. This brings Studio Source’s proven support model and administrative Dashboard directly into the Captura ecosystem, giving studios true end-to-end control of every yearbook, from initial setup and collaboration to ecommerce, print, and delivery.

With this move, yearbooks become simpler, smoother, and more profitable for studios.

For years, studios have relied on Studio Source to manage the complex work surrounding yearbooks: the deadlines, the back-and-forth with schools, and the production details that often define a season’s success. By combining Captura’s technology with Studio Source’s hands-on experience, studios now have a more reliable, scalable, and efficient model that keeps creation, management, and delivery under one roof. The entire process becomes easier to manage, easier for schools to follow, and far more predictable for studios wanting to grow the category without adding administrative overhead.

Mike Limbach, CEO of Studio Source Yearbooks, said:

“Studios deserve a yearbook process that feels organized and predictable. Joining Captura gives us the ability to bring that level of reliability into the everyday tools studios already use. This is a major step toward making yearbooks easier to manage and far more sustainable to grow.

Brett Zucker, CEO of Captura, added:

“Studios have been asking for a connected, end-to-end way to run yearbooks without adding more admin or juggling more systems. Bringing Studio Source into the Captura ecosystem delivers exactly that. Together, we’re giving studios a simpler, more confident way to expand a key part of their business.”

A bigger opportunity for studios

This acquisition also opens the door to a much larger opportunity. Yearbooks represent a nearly billion-dollar market, and many studios want to grow this category without adding more administrative work, production risks, or guesswork.

By bringing Studio Source’s operational engine directly into the Captura ecosystem, studios gain a more reliable and scalable model from day one. Schools experience clearer visibility and fewer surprises, while studios see earlier finishes, fewer errors, and a smoother path to delivering every book on time.

Nothing changes about how studios design, collaborate, or build yearbooks today. Instead, this partnership strengthens the parts of yearbook production that traditionally create the most friction. Over the coming months, Captura and Studio Source will continue improving the process based on real studio and school feedback, ensuring that yearbooks become one of the most dependable and profitable parts of the studio season.

What comes next

Beginning this season, the Studio Source Dashboard will begin connecting directly with Captura Yearbooks and Captura Workflow, giving studios a single, streamlined command center for every school partnership and yearbook project.

Additional updates, including expanded school visibility, deeper production connections, and enhanced collaboration tools, will roll out in early 2025. Studios can explore the full announcement, watch the walkthrough, or meet with the Captura team to understand how this new model fits into their yearbook operation.
